What do I propose to do?
After much thought I have decided to use this project to take my middle school technology classroom to the next level. I see this project as helping three very important groups of people: students, teachers, and parents.

I have put much thought into the idea that I teach students to trust and utilize technology as an integral part of their daily lives, yet I myself still use some traditional teaching methods when designing and introducing my projects. I would like to try to go "paperless" in my classroom to model my confidence and belief in the importance of technology. All assignments would be web-based, perhaps through BLACKBOARD. My goal is to get away from handing out the traditional sample project with instructions and go to a more interactive presentation.

I have considered the quandary I would be in if the internet were down for an extended period of time. I would back everything up on a share drive that can be accessed by all students and teachers. The accessibility of the coursework through the share drive and internet would allow all students and teachers to learn and experiment with technology on their own time. My teachers have often said that they would love to take my class because they do not know half of the concepts I am teaching the students. This would give them that opportunity. There is also the secret hope I have that this would encourage teachers to integrate technology into their own curricula.

I would post a link to the coursework through our school website and embedded within would be helpful websites for students, teachers, and parents. The benefits for parents are numerous. Parents will always be aware of what their student's assignments are, yet at the same time learn themselves. It can strengthen a parent-teacher-student relationship and reinforce the lines of communication between all involved, while at the same time demonstrating the potential of technology to educate all students in every day life.

How is my project progressing?
