Microsoft Word as an html editor
Introduction

I chose to use and review Microsoft Word as my web creator and publisher. Although I personally use FrontPage 2000 and/or Netscape Composer, I wanted to review what many of my students and teachers are using.

How cost-effective is it?
The target users would be ones who already own and use Microsoft Word for word processing. Because the program is already owned and does not require any companion software to create a web page, the costs are minimal. This is a viable option for teachers/instructors in my position. I teach 800 students and 60 teachers how to create and publish basic pages. However, I do not have the budget to purchase FrontPage, DreamWeaver or other expensive web publishing software. I work in a cross-platform building. For my PC users, I can offer them this non-threatening option of creating web pages in a program they are comfortable with. The same philosophy applies to Netscape Composer for my Mac users. My cost is nothing and the results can be rewarding to those using Word.

Throughout the page that follows, I have made comments in red italics to demonstrate some of my points while reviewing this software. I hope this is helpful to someone!
