Dreamweaver Tutorial Notes:

The download time is extremely long. Anyone have any suggestions? I am sure this is due to the audio narration.

Detailed Project Description: Dreamweaver Tutorial: This tutorial will take one through basic webpage design using Dreamweaver software. It contains step-by-step directions, links for help sites and basic information for formatting.

My goals and reasons for developing this project branch from my role as website liaison at my school. Some of my department members are anxious to add webpages to our department website that highlight course information, course projects, and homework assignments. Many of them are very computer "shy" and nervous about making this step. I have added course pages on our department website that they will design. The tutorial is designed to slowly walk them through the very basics of webpage design.

I have chosen Dreamweaver software, because it is available in our computer labs at school. In developing the PowerPoint tutorial, I used SnagIt software. This is a very easy and inexpensive screen capture program. This allowed me to capture the Dreamweaver screens to show menu items and selection windows. I struggled to keep the information basic. I kept wanting to add more, more, more. I assume that when I teach the class, those "brave" enough to venture past the basics, will ask questions. The danger with presenting too much information is that some are nervous with technology, and they will feel intimidated and then quit.

I will evaluate the project based on CTER feedback as well as while I teach the class. When I teach from tutorials, I have printed slide sheets with me. I make occasional notes when I discover mistakes or items that need to be added. I then revise as necessary.

I feel that this project will be very useful. The webpages for my department actually exist on our website, but they are "under construction". My co-workers will then open their respective pages and design them. My presentation is basic, but I can easily assist those who desire more advanced features.

Final Notes: My final project had some minor revisions and a major addition. On my pages that highlighted the "Table of Contents", I changed the color of finished headings to distinguish between past and present. I also fixed some of the audio clips and minor typographical errors. One of the suggestions was to build a webpage during the presentation. I decided that repetition aids learning, so I added that after the tutorial. This involved adding over 20 new slides and narration to those slides. The slides utilize everything discussed in the tutorial with brief reminders as to process. I had several problems uploading. The file is over 17mb, so it was very slow. I kept getting error messages. After I closed all internet type programs (messenger, yahoo, etc), the upload was successful...still slow, but it made it.
