Purpose of this project:
The purpose of this project is to allow students, along with educators
and parents, a chance to take a look at what different energy resources
cost in different parts of the country and the world. Over the
long term, it will allow students to anaylize the changes in energy
rates at different times of the year in different regions, as well as
how their energies are produced and what factors influence the prices.
What is needed:
Send information on the rates that you are paying for energy. You
may use any form of sending the information that you would like.
Please include the following:
- The type of energy (electric, natural gas, coal, heating fuel, etc.)
- The amount charged per unit (kilowatt-hour, gallon, etc.)
- Your city/state/country
- The company that provides the energy
For the purposes of providing a baseline by season, please provide
January/February, April/May, July/August, and October/November rates.
If you can get records from previous years and submit them, it
would be helpful in providing something to work from.
Objective:
Once the data is gathered, it will be placed in a data table on the
results page. Students may then look at both the information
about prices and the geographical locations of where the information
came from and make observations and propose hypotheses as to why there are differences.
On the results page, student responses will be posted as they are
received. They can be forwarded per the instructions on the
results page.
Notes:
Please forward all information here.
Please do NOT forward gasoline prices.
