Topic: Learning English Literacy is Fun
This website focuses on children (k-6 grade) who are learning English literacy. This project will be useful for both ESL and native speakers. Since many researches have already done the advantage and disadvantage of using computer in early childhood and elementary levels, I am not trying to show the computer can help children to learn better. The web site is just showing that computer is another educational tool for teachers, parents and children.
I designed the web site, which has reading, listening and writing English for children who are beginning English learners. Parents and teachers can access my web site and helps their child to do activities on my site. I suggest parents and teachers should be with child while the child is doing the activities.
There are 8 pages in my web site.
1, A-Z: audiences can learn the alphabets A-Z with target vocabulary. Each vocabulary comes along with a picture. These pictures will help children to understand the meaning of the vocabularies. For example, A-Apple, B-Bee.
2 Vocabulary: The are one poem and one map in this page. The audiences can read the poem and learn vocabularies from the poem by clicking the highly vocabularies. The pictures will show when users click the pictures. For example, when children click the picture of ice cream, then the vocabulary of " ice Cream will shows under the map.
3, Reading: Audiences can read two story books and one short article which I choice from children' s literatures. The audiences can do activities after read the stories. Parents and teachers can also print out the stories and activities for off-link activities.
4, Writing: Since my target users will be kindergarten and elementary children, I did not make formal writing activity in this web site. The audiences will do some small writing activities instead formal writing For example, the audiences will do fill in the blank instead of writing a paper.
5, Listening (multimedia page): There are one story and one song in this page. The audiences will have a chance to listen the story and song in English.
6, Links: There are several educational links for learning English Literacy. These links should be useful resources on learning English literacy for parents, teachers and children.
7 About this site (Documentation page): I address the main subject for this web site.
8 Survey and Report: After the audiences have checked this site, audiences' feedbacks are welcome. This page will be a survey page for audience to write their feedback. Also, I provide my email address, audiences can send me email when they have any questions.
Summary of the collected data and comments of participants. Survey Report
I have a wonderful experience by doing this project. This is the first web design project I have done all by myself. According to the survey result, I have learned the best and the worst part about my project. Actually, I am very surprised that the feedbacks are very different from each child and parents. Each child have benefit from different section. Some may like vocabulary page best but some may choose it as least favorite.

Will computer replace traditional education in the future? I personal believe computer will not replace traditional teachers' job but it will be a main learning tool in our next generation. Does computer is a suitable learning tool in early childhood and elementary level students? Yes, I believe if teachers can use computer appropriate in the classroom, then computer should be a powerful learning tool for children. This research result shows that children like to plan activities with computer. I will make some changes, according to the feedbacks I have received. I will also add more content to complete this site. Hopefully, this site will be more useful in the future.
