I
work in a K-3 building where most of the staff are experienced at using
technology with students. Each classroom is equiped with a minimum of five
Internet accessible computer workstations, one teacher workstation, one
printer, and one large screen computer monitor. The Learning Center has
25 Internet accessible computer workstations, one large screen computer
monitor, two printers and one scanner. There are two digital cameras in
our building that may be checked out by staff members. Over the last five
years the staff has been provided a comprehensive training program related
to technology literacy and integration. This coming school year my role
in the Learning Center will be changing and I will not be available to
do technology troubleshooting on a daily basis in my building. My hopes
are that this webpage will be a resource that the staff will find helpful.

I
have created a Technology Troubleshooting webpage that will be linked from
my school's homepage. This page will be a resource for the staff in my
building to use before contacting me or Tech Support. After five years
of technology training the staff has become more confident and comfortable
using technology. This webpage provides a five step checklist of what to
try before they contact me. I've also included tips and helps for the following:
e-mail, internet, peripherals (mouse & keyboard), power, printer, Samba
(district server), and virus updates. A form to 'Report a Problem' is included.
This is a Javascript form that will e-mail me. I will enter the information
from this form into a database creating an electronic 'Troubleshooting
Log' . This will provide me with a record of problems that I will
be able to sort by staff member, computer and problem. This information
will also assist me in planning for building training needs. The forms
will be filtered in Eudora and filed in a 'Staff Troubleshooting' folder.
This page will be updated in the fall after I have received training for
the Zen server, thereafter it will be updated as needed.
