Evrsoft's First Page is a free html editor that anyone can download and use.
First Page provides many of the features you find on more expensive editors.
The features include over 400 java scripts and 4 different user modes; easy,
normal, advanced/expert, and hardcore. Along with the four different modes
there are a variety of toolbars to use and windows that provide easy access to
the various scripts available to the user.
All of the scripts can be overwhelming at first, but one can get used to so
much choice. Within one of the windows provided, you can search and find the
script you need, and simply double-click it to insert the desired code into your
web page. If you don't understand the code, or what it is supposed to do, there
is a easy reference section also.
Your basic web design needs are also present. All of you basic functions:
spell checker, tables, anchors, etc. There is even a thesaurus look-up and
a button that allows you to add thumbnail images.
All of Evrsoft's features are just a click away, but as you progress with
your html skills, you can eliminate some of the buttons and toolbars, making a
larger screen to work with.
As someone with limited knowledge in html editors, I
really started to enjoy working with First Page. The fact that it is freeware
made it intriguing to me because I wasn't sure of the level of professionalism
it would have. First page feels like a program you would purchase off the
shelf.
I have used Nvu (the program sent with our CTER programs), and an editor on
Bravenet.com. All other skills were picked up by trial and error with an old
html 4 for Dummies book. Like I said earlier, my skills are limited, so I hope
you can see how easy it is to create a decent looking page using Ervsoft's First
Page.
I found Evrsoft's First Page fun to work with, and plan on using it
exclusively, until I find something better, maybe I should say, if I find
something better. It's functions are easy to work with, and it is easy to
navigate when you need to learn something new.
