Education should provide ample opportunity for all students, as learners, to gain knowledge to the best of their ability, effort, and interest regardless of race ethnicity, culture gender or social Economic Status.  Education, given that we live in a democracy, should reflect democratic ideals.  Education should focus on how to develop each student into a prominent member of society.  Teachers play a key role in the education of America’s youth.  As a teacher I look to teach my students through books, interests, and community service to insure them the best overall education.

As a teacher I feel that it important to educate each student with information that can be found in books.  I feel that there are essential elements of learning that each student should be aware of in each and every subject.  As a teacher I will ensure that my students are exposed to these basics of education by exposing them to literature and ideas in a meaningful and productive way.  I will allow my students to the opportunity to make them a well rounded educated person with the basics of each subject.
I feel that a large part of learning in children stems from their interest in a subject or an idea.  As a teacher I will allow my students to be able to explore ideas and information that is meaningful to them so that they can have a higher level of interest in their own learning.  I want my students to have a say in what they learn to gain a higher meaning of understanding.

An important skill often times that is overlooked in schools today is the importance of service to the community and the world around each of us.  I will allow my students an opportunity to understand the importance of helping others and making a difference in the world around them.  I know that community service has brought to my life a great sense or awareness and a higher level of learning.  I would like all of my students to also see the service to others can bring understanding and learning to their own lives
