I
was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, and currently live in
neighboring Mishawaka. Once upon a time, I lived in Spring Hill, Florida,
for two years, where I attended Pasco-Hernando Community College in an attempt
to pursue a collegiate baseball career. I then
moved back to South Bend and completed my Bachelor's Degree in Education at Indiana
University South Bend. I graduated in December 1998.
I
began working for the South
Bend Community School
Corporation in January
1999 and have been with the corporation ever since. I taught English at
Washington High School through the 2001-2002 school year. I am
completing my first year at John
Adams High School, where I teach 10th and 11th
grade regular English and 12th grade Advanced
Placement English.
While
at Washington High School I was assistant baseball coach and
involved in after school and summer ISTEP+ remediation programs.
At Adams I am currently on the attendance committee. Since I began the
CTER program, I have not had much time to
commit to many more extra curricular activities, but I have committed to being
the Quiz Bowl coach next fall. Being knee deep in school work has been a
particular challenge this past year.
Personally,
I have several varied interests. I am an aspiring writer--I have many
unfinished projects and a slew of as of yet untouched ideas. Maybe someday
I will finish something meaningful. My family and I enjoy traveling (zoos
are of special interest to my son and me), taking walks, visiting the beach, and
basically just getting on each others' nerves. The only real activity I
engage in without my family is golf.
I am married to my lovely wife, Ann, and have three children: Kyle 10, Katelyn 2, and Kerynne 3 months.
