| I am the married mother of
three wonderful children of whom I'm very proud: Christopher,
Courtney, and Ashley. My husband,
Jim, whom I married in 1974, passed away in Spring, 2005 after a long
struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.
After growing up in Chicago and moving to the suburbs, we still
consider ourselves
"South Siders." I became a teacher in 1991 after working as
a Pharmacy technician for many years and have
never regretted making that change. Seward Communication Arts
Academy in
Chicago is where I spend most of my days. The Back of the Yards
is
an exciting and diverse neighborhood, and its rich historical value to
the city of Chicago can be traced back to the early 1900s when Chicago
was the "hog butcher to the world". I love my job, and look
forward
to being with my students each day(well, most days). In 1997, I
received a Master's in Educational Leadership from St. Xavier
University in Chicago, and in 2005, I completed my 2nd Master's from
the
University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign in Curriculum, Technology, and Educational
Reform(CTER).
This degree taught me how to understand and use technology
in
the classroom so that it is yet another learning tool. My
personal information wouldn't be
complete if I didn't mention my two 4-legged babies, Twenty and
Guinness. Both
are Chihuahuas. Twenty is blind, and Guinness is insane. |
