I am currently a seventh grade math teacher in Yorkville, Illinois. Yorkville
is located south west of Chicago, in Kendall County, the fastest growing county
in the state of Illinois.
I am in my fourth year of teaching and continue to love every minute of
it. I find it especially ironic that I teach math because when I was in junior
high, math was the subject I dreaded the most. I hated the class, the material
and everything about math. Many a nights were spent with my father going over
the homework for that night. Twelve year later I have my own math class and
feel I am lucky to be able to relate to many of my students' math anxiety. I
wouldn't trade what I do for anything! One of the best jobs I currently have
(next to
teaching of course) is the position of webmaster for Yorkville Middle
School. I am in charge of the design and daily updating of
the
website and have learned more than I could ever imagine. In
addition, I am an assistant track coach, and a volleyball
referee. GO FOXES!
I am originally from Rochester, Illinois- which is a small town outside
of Springfield. Contrary to what everyone in the Chicago land says, Springfield
is located in CENTRAL Illinois, not southern Illinois! Not everything south of
I-80 is south!
I am also a UIUC alumni and I am a huge ILLINI Fan! (I am very
disappointed/disgusted with the board's decision on Chief Illiniwek- did the
NCAA make that decision for them?)
If anyone is confused Melinda Hafenrichter and Melinda Clough are both me.
The first name is my married name and the second is my maiden name. Apparently
because I was an undergrad at UIUC everything is processed with Clough. Oh
well!
