I am involved in several committees related to my work at Genoa-Kingston High School. I am an Association Representative for the Genoa-Kingston Education Association. In addition to this, I serve on the following:
o This is the local committee responsible for monitoring the new Teacher Certification Program developed by the Illinois State Board of Education.
· Scholarship Committee
o I serve as the chairperson for the Scholarship Committee. We are responsible for administering the application, selection, and delivering of two different memorial scholarship on an annual basis.
o The Al Shirvis Scholarship—Al was a teacher and coach at the high school. This scholarship is given to a graduating senior or seniors.
o The Trudi Coots Scholarship—Trudi was an elementary teacher for many years. This scholarship is given to a G-K graduate who is at least a Junior in college and majoring in Education.
- Constitution and By-laws Committee
o I serve a chairperson on this committee. We are currently in the process of doing a major re-write of the Education Associations Constitution and By-laws.
- Technology Committee
o I was responsible for establishing a District Technology Committee. The committee was able to help secure a District Technology Coordinator whose responsibilities include heading this committee.
I am involved in several activities outside of work and school. They include the following:
- PEO—I am a member of the local chapter of PEO International.
- Girl Scouts—I have been a leader for my daughters Brownie/Junior troop for the past four years. We meet on a weekly basis. We are currently planning a camping trip for June.
- Youth Softball—I have been an assistant coach and score keeper for my daughters’ softball team for three years.
- Youth Soccer—I have been an assistant coach for my daughters’ soccer team for two years.
- Church—I have served on several committees in the past and have been in charge of our Easter Eggstravaganza for two years.
