Phylogeny is the evolutionary history of species.

Overview:
Life Science students at Catlin High School will be required to create a web site for future classes to use about the phylogeny of the animal kingdom.  My CTER project will serve as a learning tool for these students to investigate the animal kingdom and the creation of web pages.  It will contain web quests, tutorials, and important links.

Contents:
The Phylogeny of the Animal Kingdom Project is a miniature web site containing the following:

  1. Home page with assignment overview and links to the other components of the web site
  2. Web quest on lower invertebrates
  3. Web quest on advanced invertebrates
  4. Web quest on fishes and amphibians
  5. Web quest on reptiles and birds
  6. Web quest on mammals
  7. Tutorial on simple web page making using Microsoft Word
  8. Tutorial on simple web page making using Microsoft Publisher

Time frame:
Students will be introduced to the project at the beginning of the quarter and have the full nine weeks to complete it as a class.  There will be deadlines along the way for the various web quests and sample pages.  The web quests and sample pages will be individual assignments but the phylogeny web site will be a full class assignment with students choosing individual parts to work on.
