Information
I am currently in my fifth year as the fine arts teacher at Juliette Low Elementary School in Arlington Heights, IL. At Juliette Low, I teach music, art, drama, and dance to all students grades kindergarten through fifth. To learn more about the fine arts program and curriculum, please visit my Fine Arts Classroom page.
I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1997 with a degree in Elementary Education and an emphasis on music. In May of 2003, I received my masters degree in curriculum, technology, and education reform through the University of Illinois. To view the technology-based projects I created for my masters program, please visit my CTER projects page.
I have been involved in the fine arts since I was very young. I began taking piano lessons when I was five years old, and I continued with these lessons through high school. At various ages, I was involved in numerous choirs, bands, theater groups, and other performing arts groups. My background has certainly assisted me in teaching and developing my students' fine arts knowledge.
At Juliette Low, I teach all 350 students about the four fine arts using themes based on the elements of the arts. I also serve as director, producer, choreographer, costume designer, and a number of other jobs for the Juliette Low chorus, which is an extracurricular program for fourth and fifth graders. In the past, we have performed shows such as A Christmas Carol, The Nutcracker, and We Haz Jazz - A History of Jazz Music. To view any of the video footage from these performances, please contact me directly.
