How to build the Xylo-Tom

List of things you'll need.

Instructions

1. Cut pipe into 10 sections each an inch shorter than the previous starting at 15 7/8" and ending at 6 7/8".

2. Cut 1"x2" board into (3) 25.5", (1) 9", (1) 24.5", and (2) 21.5" sections.

3. Cut 2"x4" board into (2) 20" and (1) 21" sections.

4. Sand rough edges of boards and pipes to make smooth.

5. Sand outside of pipes to make rough so it can be painted.

6. Spray paint pipes.

7. Cut 1"x2" board into lengths and angles as shown in diagram below. (Set circular saw to 15º for all angled cuts.) Attach as shown below using screws.

8. Find thin scrap piece of wood 2"x3". Use this to attach the 2 legs to the top frame. (Legs are 1"x2" boards.)

9. Use final piece of 1"x2" boards as cross brace directly below top frame.

10. Form an "H" using 2"x4"s and screw together.

11. Attach "H" to legs by screwing together from the bottom.

12. Turn frame upside down and screw on casters.

13. Paint frame. (optional)

14. Suspend pipes by dropping nylon fishing string through pipes and stapling to frame. (Be sure to knot each end so as not to slip through staples.)

15. Acquire plastic mallets from music store.
