PIONEER LIFE & WESTWARD MOVEMENT

                 *  PROJECT OVERVIEW -
            The purpose of this project is to engage students in an exciting
            internet lesson while discovering pioneer life styles. Students will learn
            about the people involved, modes of transportation, reasons for moving, and
            the various trails taken west. This project eliminates the need to search
            for urls as they are researched and made available by the teacher.

          * GOALS & OBJECTIVES-
            Students will gain general knowledge on pioneer expansion and be able
            to discuss the time period.
            Students will be able to identify important families that traveled west
            and retell their stories through presentation.
            Students will be able to describe housing, clothing,and reasons for moving
            west.
            Students will research Native Americans and the Forgotten Cowboys to
            learn about their cultural significance.

          * TARGET AUDIENCE-
            The target audience is my 4th grade reading class who will use this site
            as a pre-reading activity to the novel study Bound for Oregon.
