History

In the late 1960s the Department of Defense began the Internet as a military research project. The government created a network that covered a large geographic area that could withstand a nuclear attack. The network grew to include scientists and researchers across the country. This led to the internet as we know it, to include schools, businesses, organizations, and individuals.
