Step 1

Using a copy of your family's electric bill, determine the cost of energy per kwh (this is listed underneath energy charge). Round this number to the nearest cent.

Step 2

Using the same electric bill, find the amount of energy used in that month. This will be listed under "usage".

Step 3

Each student should write the amount of energy used that month on the board. Students can use their calculators (younger students) or add and divide by hand to find the class average amount of energy used. This is the number you will enter in the data chart to email.
