My name is Mrs. Davey and I teach fourth grade at Serrano Elementary School in Moreno Valley California. Moreno Valley is in Riverside County, which is about 80 miles east of Los Angeles.  Down the street from our school is March Air Force Reserve Base, which was the first stop for many soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
    Our student body is made up of over 1,000 kindergartners through fifth graders.  Serrano has such a large student population that many classes, including ours, have portables as their classrooms.  Since we don't have to worry too much about rain or snow, we eat our lunches outside on picnic tables, and our schools don't have any hallways!
    Due to our large enrollment, we are a multi-track year-round school  Our class is one of two fourth grade classes on "A" track.  On our schedule, our first day of school was July 8th and our last day of school will be May 28th.  We take our "summer" vacations during our off-track months which are October,  February, and June, and we still get a 2 week Winter Break.
     Our summers are hot and dry, with a daily average temperature around 100 degrees.  There is not a noticeable change of seasons in California, but the temperatures do drop during winter, especially at night.  We are surrounded by mountains and hills, which you can barely see through a thin layer of smog - yuck!
    During the course of this year we will travel through California's history: from the first people to arrive in California over 13,000 years ago, to the Spanish Missions and the Gold Rush, to the current state crisis, recalling the governor.  We also hope to learn more about you, so read on and...

    I'm a student at Serrano Elementary School.  I like to do math.  I have two pet birds.  I give them food.  I have a friend who is also in fourth grade.  My favorite sport is basketball. I have six sisters, one brother, and one niece.

    I have been at Serrano Elementary for four years.   I'min fourth grade.  I like to read books, big books.  I have a cat whose name if Luck.  He is three years old, and very sweet.  My Mom says he is so fat.  I love my family and I like to play.

    I go to Serrano Elementary School, but I was a cheerleader at Sunnymead Elementary.  I like sports, and my favorite sport is basketball. I went to Castle Park for my birthday.

    I go to Serrano Elementary School.  I am in fourth grade and I am 10 years old.  .  I have a wonderful teacher that helps us a lot.  I have a cool class with 33 students.  My favorite subject is math, but I love reading too.
I have two sisters, one of them is 12 years old and the other is seven years old.  I have two dogs, a German Shepherd and a Poodle.
My favorite sports are soccer and football, and I love baseball.  My favorite basketball team is the LA Lakers, but I like the Spurs too.  I like to go to the movies or to a baseball game.

    Hi, I am in fourth grade at Serrano Elementary.  My favorite sport is baseball.  I have two pets, a cat and dog.  Their names are Princess the dog and Tigger the cat.  My favorite subject is math.  My fun thing to do when I am bored is swim.

    I go to Serrano Elementary School.  I have four brothers and three sisters.  Some of my sisters are mean.  I am the only sister that is nice.  My sister loves to play jump rope, but sometimes my sister does not want to play with me.
I also have a dog.  My mom got it on Christmas, so we named her Christmas.  My dog likes to play tug-of-war and football.    
I like school.  I like it a lot especially writing.

    I'm in fourth grade at Serrano Elementary School.  I have been at this school for two years.  My parents are divorced.  I have one older sister, and she's annoying.  I like to watch wrestling.  My favorite subject is science.

My teacher’s name is Mrs. Davey.  She's very nice.  Our lunchtime is at 11:00, our recess time is at 1:00, and then we go home at 2:28.  
I have four sisters, and I am going to get a puppy.  Were going to name her Princess.
