Spreadsheet #5 – Savings Time Calculation

You did a great job on assignment 4, but you are not finished yet!  You have selected 4 cars that you like.

Your job is to determine how many weeks you would need to save money to be able to buy each of the four cars.

1.      Open you SS4 spreadsheet.  Be sure that your formulas are NOT showing.  The example below shows the bottom portion of SS4 in grey.

2.      Enter the column headings for “Car, Price, and Weeks” below the previous information from spreadsheet 4.

3.      Format the Price column for currency, and the Weeks column for numbers with one decimal place.

4.      Enter the car names and their prices in the correct cells.  Use the Online Resources Page to find the cars & their prices.

5.      Enter a formula to determine Weeks for each car.  (Price divided by Weekly Savings)

6.      Go to file SAVE AS so that you can save this file as SS5 without erasing SS4.

7.      Print Preview and make sure the spreadsheet fits on one page, then print

8.      You have decided that you really want the Porsche 911 Turbo but you cannot wait that many weeks weeks to get it.  Determine what would happen if you spent only $20 a week on Dining, $20 a week on entertainment, and $15 a week on Clothes.  Change you weekly expenses on the spreadsheet.  Notice how the numbers in the Weeks columns decrease.

9.      Print Preview and print this modified spreadsheet with the new numbers.  Be sure it fits on one page.

10.  Staple the two printouts and turn in.
