Store # 1018

Our McDonalds is at a busy
intersection. It is one of 7 McDonalds in the Champaign-Urbana
area and is one of 8 within a 10 mile radius from the center of the two
cities. It is a busy McDonalds, but it does not have a Play-Place
playground. At lunchtime the Drive-thru gets backed up to the
street and the capacity is 120 people, but sometimes it seems like
there are even more people there. It is even open 24 hours a day
from Thursday to Sunday.
We noticed that the signs in the store had both English and
Spanish and there were some people that ordered in Spanish to worker
that spoke English and Spanish. A BigMac costs $2.55 and is $2.63
after tax, but we prefer double
cheeseburgers ($1.08) and 6 piece Chicken McNuggets with BBQ sauce
($3.14, $3.21 after tax).
Our class has voted that McDonalds has the best french fries; a
large fry costs $1.72 after tax and most of us eat ketchup with fries
while 3 students like to dip fries in vanilla milkshake. You can get a
happy meal, which is your coice of a hamburger,
cheeseburger, or chicken McNuggets, fries or sliced apples with caramel
sauce to dip. The toy prize is a figure from the movie Pirates of
the Carribean.
If you're up early enough, you can get breakfast. They have
McGriddles now, but Egg McMuffins are still the favorite.
Breakfast ends at 10:30. For the summer, McDonalds has
icecream cones for $.79 and you can always get a McFlurry with
M&Ms, or Oreo cookies mixed in for $2.00 or $2.08 after tax.
We know that other McDonalds have other McFlurry choices of candy
to mix in. Sometimes
McDonalds offers the McRib sandwich, but only on certain occassions and
around St. Patricks Day, you can get a Shamrock Shake, which is green
and minty. For part of the summer, they had Orange milk shakes,
but they don't have them now.
We noticed that McDonalds advertises on Billboards,
TV, the radio, and their slogan is "I'm Lovin' It." McDonalds
just started putting the health information on all the wrappers and
boxes that food comes in. It shows you how many calories and how
much fat is in everything. McDonalds has a lot of salads for
$4.40 and our parents sometimes get them, but they usually are not very
healthy either. We love it when McDonalds has the
Monopoly game and you get game pieces on your food and cups and you can
win prizes and food and even $1,000,000. Right now if you get a
Big Mac there is a game piece that you pull off the box and enter the
code on the website to try to win one of 28 cars. Our class goes to
McDonalds an average of 2.7 times per week, as much as 8 times a week,
and some of us usually do not go to McDonalds. We go with our
parents about 75% of the time and with friends about 25% of the time.
We usually go there for dinner and go during the summer the most.
Some of our other favorite restaraunts are Taco Bell, Subway, and
Jimmy Johns.
