Introduction Task Resources Process Conclusion Evaluation Teacher
The Task
1. How would the map of the world (click link to print map) look today? You will print and create a political map
(click link to easily print) showing where country, empire, or state borders would be had the Battle of Tours had been won
by Muslim forces. On the second map, using a legend, show how the
major religions of the world would be distributed across the map.
You should refer to the "resources" page to assist you.
2. How would history be different? You will create a parallel timeline with an alternate timeline.
After viewing alternate timelines and information throughout this
webquest, create two timelines, making sure that dates line up
correctly. The first timeline will be real events. Research
and choose 10-15 relevant world events that occurred after Christians
retained control of Europe and place them on the timeline. On the
other timeline, create alternate events that may have occurred in the
world had the Muslims have won the Battle of Tours.
Sample Timeline: You may space your dates as you like, but
remember to start with the Battle of Tours. You may include
future events.

3. How would your life be different?
Hypothesize how your individual life would be different and how the world
in general would have changed. Write a 2 page journal or diary in first person narration.
You should speak in the present tense and write as if you are
actually writing a diary or journal about your life in this "other"
world.
Now, view the process that you will undertake.
