This HTML editor is far from free, although you can download a 30-day trial version. The full price listed on the site is $399. For education, it lists the price as $99. I chose to evaluate Dreamweaver because my school purchased it this year for the computer classes and I wanted to learn about it. I am a preschooler when it comes to web design. I finally felt comfortable using Nvu that we used in EdPsy 490, but I wanted to try something new.

Messing around with this program for many hours, I concluded that I was not meant to use Dreamweaver. I did, however, learn how to become quite the expert at using the Help menu.

One feature that I thought was neat was that you can add flash video to a web page. I tried to do this, but the result was not what I wanted. As I said, this was not my cup of tea. I am extremely glad that we have not been required to use Dreamweaver in our CTER classes, thus far
.

I sucked up my pride and decided to go with Nvu.   This is a screen shot of Nvu and it's user-friendly console.

It is so easy to insert images. Just click on the "Image" icon in the tool bar and away you  go.

Why do I like Nvu? Well...............................................

Reason #1:

Change is bad.  In this particular case, I like the familiar.  I can freely alter what text I need to, using the same process as if I were using  Microsoft Word. I can make my text really big or really small  or easy to read or not easy at all.  I can change the colors to be blue  or green or even red.  It's all so very simple to do, as I already said.

Reason #2:
It's free.   This software is free and so easy to use.  We love free things.

                    Reason #3":

Different layouts.  You can choose between normal, HTML Tags, Source and then you can preview your webpage. If I decide to be daring and want to put some HTML coding in, all I have to do is click on the "Source" tab and I can code away.

Reason #4:

Different ability levels.  You can be a webpage master or a webpage novice and you can use this software to create. I am sure it does not have everything that Dreamweaver does, but I am pleased with Nvu.  I am very glad that I learned basic web design using this software.

Cost-Benefits Analysis
Nvu is free.   At no cost, the software is quite beneficial.  For those of us who are just beginning to learn webpage design, It think this is great.  If I were an expert at design, I would maybe go for the Dreamweaver, but Nvu suits my needs just fine.
