About Me ...

Holly Downs has served as a research associate on various projects including the evaluation of the Illinois Learning Standards, Reading First (RF), Reading Excellence Act (REA), and of
EPICS K-12 (a community-based learning project between University of Illinois College of Engineering, local schools, community organizations, and the National Science Foundation). She has also been an independent evaluator and consultant on various literacy and technology projects for school districts in
California and Illinois. She has experience with analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, negotiating on-site visits and multiple site data collection, supervising employees, and professionally presenting findings formally and informally (presentations, traditional reports and debriefings, and Web site development) to myriad audiences.

Holly was nominated for a national award as a classroom teacher and has presented at numerous local, regional, statewide, and national conferences on topics such as media literacy, technology literacy, problem solving and curriculum development, effective partnerships, early language and literacy instruction, and project management in education and marketing. She was also selected as the 2002 Midwest representative on the national Public Broadcasting Service/Ready To Learn Station Advisory Council when she was the educational outreach coordinator at WILL-AM-FM-TV.
