In
the summer of 2001, I began a Masters program that changed the direction
of my professional career, opened doors that I thought would never open,
and allowed me to develop exciting new skills in technology. I’m
speaking, of course, about the Curriculum,
Technology, and Educational Reform program at the University of
Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Through the program, I have had the opportunity
to develop grant proposals, evaluation instruments for new and existing
technologies, and investigate the potential for online course technologies.
I can also honestly say that my involvement in CTER led me to my current
position at New Trier High School
in the Instructional Technology Department. I would recommend this program
to anyone who is interested in learning more about the bleeding edge
of instructional technologies, seeks to become an agent for change within
their district, and believes that using technology in the classroom
can be instrumental for learning.
