Native Americans of the Midwest

Yuchi Tribe

The Yuchi Indians mostly lived in Tennessee and Kentucky, but some did live in Florida.  The women wore wrap around skirts.  While the men wore breechcloths and leggings.  Both men and women did not wear shirts unless it was cool then they wore poncho-style mantles.  The women farmed and grew corn, squash, and beans.  The men would hunt  deer, buffalo, small game, and fish in rivers.  Yuchi houses were packed around a central  square where dances and meetings were held.  Their homes were built of clay packed onto a wooden frame.  The Europeans affected them by making them leave their land and changing their customs and lifestyles.
