Philosophy & Standards

As a future teacher my personal philosophy on teaching is : Care about the students, and show it.  Secondly to make them better.  With the second portion of my teaching philosophy the aspect of making my students better must encompass the area of technology.  I must have knowledge of the technology available in order to pass along to my students.  As a student of history I study different era's and revolutions.  It is said that we are in a technological revolution.  It is very important that I use technology in my classroom.  For the students I will be teaching will be exposed to such technology in almost every endevor of their lives.  A drawback of technology in the average classroom is that the teacher is the oldest person in the room.  That is a problem because the knowledge of technology is greater in younger people.  For instance computers were around when I was a child however they were not widely used.  This was a drawback for anyone my age verses a person who began using computers at age two.  Overall the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.
The role of the teacher can be changed in a classroom that uses technology.  Instead of the top source the teacher becomes a guide by which the students can use such devises as the internet.  The teacher is still used for instruction and disapline, however the students are exposed to many more opinions.  Computers are a link to the world.  They can show students what the teacher could only try to explain.
In conclution technology is the way of teaching in the future.  In order to properly prepare students, teachers must use the use of technology.  The sudents will have to use technology for the rest of their lives.  They must use it in theeir education as well.  Teachers must keep up with the changing technology in order to instruct properly.  Over all technology is important to learn for the profession of teaching.
