Assignment: Read: A taxonomy of video in instruction: Knowledge objectives, aesthetic stages of development and technological determinants. What can you take away from the articles, video examples and discussions so far that you can use in designing your own instructional multimedia?
The main theme that keeps repeating itself, is the importance of the choice of media matching the content, the audience, and the capabilities (technical and mental) of the users. As teachers, preparing content for students, this means that we must keep in mind the educational goals that we are trying to teach. This also means that we must be aware of the level of technology that our students have -- if most use dial-up, then the files need to remain as small as possible. Providing the content in multiple formats (including an audio clip or a written transcript) will give disabled users more access to the materials.
