Background of the Assignment

For EPSY 590NET we were to choose a free HTML Editing Software to try out.  After doing some researching I came across PageBreeze.  It seemed like it had good reviews so I downloaded it and installed it with ease.

Features:

  • PageBreeze is a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) HTML Editor
  • It is free to download for personal use.
  • It has a free Drag-and-Drop Form Builder to create webforms.
  • The website has links to templates and other tools that are very easy to use.
  • PageBreeze offers a professional version for $29.99.  Here is the link to their professional website - http://www.pagebreeze.com/pro.htm

System Requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP/Vista
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later.

Overview:

Overall PageBreeze comes as advertised.  It is a (WYSIWYG) HTML Editor and is very easy to use.  I see myself as a very novice webpage designer and I was able to use it very easily.

Positives of PageBreeze

  • Several aspects of PageBreeze I liked was how easy it was to use a template.  As most teachers say, "don't reinvent the wheel" and templates allow you to use other peoples good designs.  The one I found took very little time to download, unzip, and use.
  • I also liked the spell check feature.  This is a great feature for a teacher without the greatest spelling ability.
  • Another aspect I really like about PageBreeze is that you can preview your webpage in several different formats: Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, etc.  This way you can check to make sure your page will work in each format. Making links in PageBreeze was also very easy to do.
  • It is also very easy to insert images.

Negatives of PageBreeze

  • No table of Contents Feature - I searched and searched and could not find one.
  • Tables moved around too much when you type in them, but I did complete one.
  • No highlight feature or strikethrough feature.
  • I wish there was a way to upload video or audio to your website.

Tricks I learned with PageBreeze

Producing Forms is easy with the Drag and Drop Feature

List Box - Below you will see the places that I have Lived

State Schools in Illinois made with a Text Box

You can also make checkboxes easily for when you need confirmation.

Changing it Up - Changing the font, size, italics, underline  and color of text is easy!

To break up your page a horizontal line (above) is easy to add.

Final Words........

While surfing other student's web pages I noticed that their web pages had features that PageBreeze did not.  The price is right though at FREE.  I probably like NVU better after using them both.  One program I would like to try is Dreamweaver.  It seemed like it was one of the easiest to use to produce great looking web pages.
