The
Process
- First you'll be assigned
to a team of 3 or 4 students. These students will be your travel partners.
- Determine the leader of your group. The leader will have final say on all your group decisions.
- Assign the following jobs to each member of your group
- Tour guide - This person will be responsible for keeping track of all the tourist attractions in the cities to you visited
- Travel agent - This person will be in charge of all travel plans (planes, rental cars, taxis, etc.)
- Treasurer - This person will be in charge of the expenses for the trip. Remember you can only spend $10,000
- Travel secretary - This person will be responsible for putting together a visual scrapbook for the trip.
- Next, each person in the
group will investigate and then decide on what city they would like to travel to. (Each person must pick
a different city. Choose from the list below.) Then decide as a group what your 4th city will be.
- At each stop of your trip, the person who selected that city will have four jobs to be responsible for:
- Decide what events or
places you will go to in your city and how much it will cost. Make sure
to give this information to your travel secretary.
- Investigate air fare from
the previous city to your city. Determine how long you will stay
in your city and get a rental car for that time. Give this
information to the travel agent in your group.
- Keep track of how much money you have
spent on your leg of the trip and what you spent it on. - Give this
information to your group's treasurer.
- Collect pictures, brouchures or other
interesting pieces of information to share with your classmates. - Give
this information to your group's travel secretary.
- The group will decide which city to
travel to first, then second and so on and will decide how long to stay
(Keep in mind your budget and time.)
- Each member of your group will create a
spreadsheet for their city to keep track of activities, hotels and
transportation and the cost of each. Click here to get a copy of the spreadsheet.
- Team members will save their
spreadsheets to our class' folder. Teams will then combine
spreadsheets to create one master spreadsheet for their group.
- Each member will then write
a short essay about their city of choice. The essay should try to
convince your classmates to consider a vacation to this city. The essay
should be neat, organized, persuasive and at least 1 full page (12
point font, 1 inch margins.)
- Finally, your group will put together a
presentation using PowerPoint, posters, or a series of handouts and
present this to to the class.
